Building The Future
To meet the needs of the Juja Farm community, we are:
Building and establishing a Flexible Community Centre/School to provide basic education opportunities for children, vocational training for school leavers and classes for illiterate adults.
Identifying sustainable economic activities in line with the prevailing climatic conditions, including: diversification of farming methods to maximise returns; introduction of hybrid cattle and the creation of small businesses.
Giving general health awareness programmes at community level to help eradicate the stigma attached to HIV/Aids, through counselling, information on prevention including sex education and the promotion of safer cultural practices, e.g. male circumcision.
Providing a home for orphaned children who are ostracised by the society and are without extending families.
Establishing an onsite Medical Centre for the local community. A Medical Centre would not only give the local population access to urgent medical attention, but also give them a place to go to for advice and nutritional information as well as pastoral care.
